Planning and Evaluation
Introduction
First we’ll discuss the definitions
and principles behind planning and evaluation:
What is program planning? What is program evaluation? Who are stakeholders
and why are they important?
From there we’ll look at how to put together a community
needs and resource assessment,
the next step toward establishing your comprehensive tobacco control
program plan. When completed, this works creates a profile of your
community, the impact of tobacco on the community, the work being
done and the work completed in the past to combat tobacco use.
Next we’ll review how to go about developing
a program plan, setting and documenting
goals and objectives, identifying indicators, developing logic
models and evaluating whether the programs process and outcomes
measure up to objectives.
Following plan development we’ll tackle implementing
a program plan, the time to take your plan from
theory into practice. We’ll
address some basic project management skills, give you pointers
on how to plan and
implement activities, and review process and outcome evaluation
methods.
Then we’ll look at sharing
the results
of your evaluation and whether you have achieved your desired outcomes,
both in terms of how it impacts your program and how to use the
results to influence program funders, decision makers, news media
and policy change.
Finally you'll take the Self-Assessment test
following the Planning and Evaluation module.
